Game Design
Ludography (Games I've designed or helped develop):
Digital:
-Organ Thief.

Simple flash game with a very twisted sense of humor. Built in 2 weeks with the constraints of making a single-player, mouse-controlled game with play sessions that last 15 seconds or less.
Player plays as a back-alley organ transplant specialist trying to find the organ his patient is missing in a donor. Gets increasingly more hectic as gameplay progresses.
Design, scripting, art and audio all by me.
Game: (.zip file with executable)
-Bioluminescence.

Simple flash game prototype with mechanics inspired by the unique adaptations of real deep-sea organisms.
Game built in approximately one week.
Design, scripting and all audio by me, with art by Matt DeWitt.
Entered into the Entelechy 2008 digital game competition.
Game: .swf, .exe
Rules: readme.txt
-Gaseous.

Simple flash game made in under 48 hours for the first ever Global Game Jam. Largely only did the scripting on this one, with ocassional design suggestions/contributions.
Non-Digital:
-Rats, a board game for 4-8 players.

Players play as thieves stealing a safe from a museum, collectively moving a single game token through anonymous actions and accusing one another of sabotage.
Developed in ten days with three other students. (Winter 2008)
To learn more, check out my Rats page, or read the postmortem at gamecareerguide.com here.
-50 Pace Shootout, a card game for 2-4 players.

Players play as gunslingers in the American Wild West engaging in a duel to the death.
Game rules can be downloaded as a Word document here.
You can make your own cards (Rules sheet include what cards you'll need to make).
Draw them up on index cards, or print your own like I did, using my card designs here. (Winter 2008)
Miscelanious:
-Weekly Game Project - each week on my blog I challenge myself to make a new simple game, and blog about my design decisions.
Check them out here: Weekly Game Project Games.
-Project Loyola, a student developed Alternate Reality Game (ARG).
I was a content designer on the team, developing content for the web as needed by the design department. (Winter 2008 - Present)
Read the postmortem at gamecareerguide.com here.
-Artificial Evolution.
Acted as a designer, writer, and concept artist in this 10-week student project for a highly competitive class simulating a real game development studio environment. Although the project was not actually built as a playable game, our team created a game pitch which included a complete design doc and promotional website, featuring stories and concept art. (check link above)
Project was voted best in class by industry professionals. (2007)
