Music

Strictly as a hobby, I dabble in creating music electronically, either for fun or as soundtracks for various projects. I was also recently part of a small electronic industrial/experimental band.

The kind of music I create is a weird mix of all the stuff I'm into, resulting in an odd blend of electronic, industrial, and hip-hop.

My music tends to be rather experimental, focusing on layering unique sounds rather than constructing melody. I also employ unconventional instruments like modified children's toys and older video game hardware.

I actually programmed an interface to control my synthesizers with a Guitar Hero guitar controller. Sadly, I'm not the first to do that. However, I may be the first to implement a DDR mat into the mix as effect pedals ;) In any case I don't tend to use it often, as it's not terribly practical.

Again, as this is only really a hobby, I don't claim to be particularly adept at this and don't tend to invest in good equipment, so I apologize if the mix is weird. Anyway, here's a few samples:
- "Scene from a Movie" - Started as a track in a short film I did. People who watched it said they liked the song, so I decided to build it into a full, expanded piece.
- "Chorus Machina" - Two songs that weren't going anywhere fused into one. I like what resulted.
- "A Moth in the Glow of Headlights" - Just as a bit of contrast from the style most of my music takes, I decided to throw this one up here too.
(I wrote lyrics for this, although they've never been recorded, largely to spare the world from my singing...)
- "Angry Technology" - You'd never guess it, but one of the instruments in this song is a Speak and Spell. Or at least it was one, before I got my hands on it, heh.

Well, there you are. Just a small sampling for now. Maybe I'll put up some more later, if people seem to like it.
